Joan H. Creelman



Joan Henrietta Creelman, 85, died Saturday, May 6, 2017.

She was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Samuel and Henrietta (Borland) Creelman.

Born with a disability, she became a special education teacher after graduating from Philadelphia Biblical Institute.

Miss Creelman taught at the Chester Road one-room schoolhouse, Union Street and Park Street schools. In retirement, she owned Miss Creelman’s Ink and Paper print shop.

She was a member of Springfield Community Chorus and Vermont Retired Teachers Association.

She enjoyed singing and listening to music, (classical hymns), bird watching, painting, drawing and crafts.

Survivors include her siblings, Gwen Coppola, Diane Reilly and David Creelman, all of Philadelphia, nieces and nephews.

Miss Creelman was predeceased by a brother, Robert Creelman, and a great-nephew.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Davis Memorial Chapel where friends may call at 12:15 p.m. prior to the service officiated by David Batchelder.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield.
