Wilbur K. Williams II



Wilbur K. “Cricket” Williams II, 53, a longtime resident of Ascutney, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Valley Regional Hospital Emergency Room in Claremont.

He was born June 30, 1964 in Leyden, Massachusetts, the son of Wilbur K. and Marilyn (Straw) Williams. He received his schooling in Ascutney and Springfield, Vermont, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1982. He married Frances Lord in Ascutney on Feb. 19, 1984. Wilbur was employed at the former Top Hat Restaurant in Ascutney and later at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor until the plant closed in 1984. He was currently employed as a lead man at Sturm Ruger in Newport for the past 30 years. He was fond of car racing, riding motorcycles, playing guitar, hunting, fishing and tinkering on his many projects. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and animals. He also enjoyed his adopted family and numerous friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Delmore Fairbrother.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Williams of Ascutney; one daughter, Alicia M. Aldridge and her husband, Shaun of Ascutney; two sons, Charles “Chaz” Lord and his wife, Dawn of Newport, and Wilbur K. “CJ” Williams III of West Windsor; four brothers, Larry Williams of Ascutney, Lonnie Fairbrother of Vershire, Vermont, and Gary Fairbrother and Kent Fairbrother, both of Weathersfield Bow; three sisters, Pattie Eglintine of Newbury, New Hampshire and Cindy Austin and Stacey Hussey, both of Windsor; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

At his request, a celebration of his life will be held in the spring.

Victor P. Jarvis, 91


Victor P. Jarvis, 91, a longtime resident of Ascutney, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 1, 2016, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 30, 1924, in Claremont, the son of Philip and Eva (Greenwood) Jarvis. He received his schooling in Claremont. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Vermont. He married Virginia Dubuque in Newport on April 13, 1946. Mr. Jarvis was employed at the former Cone Blanchard in Windsor. He started Jarvis and Sons Construction in Ascutney in 1951, which he owned and operated for many years.Victor was a member of the VFW in Springfield. He truly enjoyed working and spending time on projects in his garage, visiting with many friends and family, sharing stories. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Richard Jarvis; and one granddaughter. Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Virginia Jarvis; two daughters, Phyllis Jarvis and her husband, Patrick Howe, of Claremont and Brenda Bulluss and her husband, Donald, of Ascutney; four sons, Donald Jarvis and his wife, Gloria, of Claremont, Victor Jarvis and his wife, JoAnn, of Springfield, Dwight Jarvis and his wife, Bonnie, and Peter Jarvis and his wife, Judy, all of Ascutney; one brother, Gordon Jarvis of Corona, California; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one special family caregiver, Angel Kamandua of Ascutney.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at with Pastor Will Hunter officiating. Committal services with military honors will be held in the spring at Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ascutney Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Mildred H. “Millie” Jarvis, 83


Mildred H. “Millie” Jarvis, 83, a longtime resident of Ascutney, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Jan.19, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully with her daughters at her side. Millie was born Jan. 10, 1933, in St. Johnsbury, and was the daughter of Della May Higgins. She received her schooling in Weathersfield and graduated from Springfield High School in 1950. She married Richard N. Jarvis on Dec. 28, 1957, and they were married 55 years until Dick passed away unexpectedly in 2012. Millie and Dick built their home in Ascutney, and moved there in 1963. She was employed at Joy Manufacturing Company in Claremont, at Cone Blanchard Machine Tool Company in Windsor, and she worked at the Ascutney Post Office until retirement in 2012.

Millie enjoyed tending to her magnificent flower gardens, listening to country music, barn dances and helping others. Millie especially loved spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, her mother and her brother, Irving Eaton. Survivors include her daughters, Jean Bridgmon of Plant City, Florida, Linda Wright and her husband, Jeffery, of Wolcott, Vermont, and Lori Crane and her daughter, Olivia of Orlando, Florida; her stepdaughter, Cheryl McDerment and her husband, Herman of Ascutney; her sisters, Cynthia Eaton and her husband, Bill, of Fair Haven, Vermont, and Della May Richmond of Forest Grove, Oregon; her brother, Dick Richmond and his wife, Beverly, of Keene; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Both calling hours and funeral services will be at Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. Friends and family may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, with funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26. Committal services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date at Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney.
