Robert J. Murray, 82, passed away on Saturday evening Jan. 12, 2019 at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow, Vermont. He was born April 14, 1936 in Springfield, Vermont the son of Walter and Julia (Bryant) Murray. He attended Springfield Schools, graduating from Springfield High School in 1955
On June 13, 1959 he married Theresa C. Sigouin in Springvale, Maine. She predeceased him on Nov. 10, 2010.
Bob worked on the family dairy farm in Perkinsville for many years until the farm stopped operations in the late 1970s. He then was employed with Wiggins Concrete in North Springfield, Vermont for 15 years. Over the years he also worked in a woodworking shop, for a cleaning company, cleaning offices and business after hours, and as a night custodian with the Weathersfield School System for several years.
He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture, hunting, fishing, gardening and bird watching. He was also a member of the Weathersfield Historical Society.
He is survived by two sons; Mark Murray and his partner Jessica of Braintree, Vermont, and Michael Murray of Perkinsville, Vermont; daughter Sandy Hryckiewicz of Springfield, Vermont; five grandchildren, Cody, Felicia, Brandi, Chris, and Chase; one great grandchild Theo; niece Shirley Harlow; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Jim, and John, and four sisters, Margaret, Mary, Helen and Frances.
A graveside service will be held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Springfield, Vermont in the spring.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vermont.
