Luanne J. Wharton



Luanne “Lulu” Jayne Wharton, 60, of Springfield, died Sunday, June 10, 2018 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Luanne was born November 4,1957 in Springfield, a daughter of Lawrence J. and Clarice E. (Marcotte) Morse. She grew up in Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School Class of 1975. Over the years she worked at Ames Department Store, Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center, KB Toys, Quiznos and volunteered for WCFR and the Adult Day Center.

In 2003 she moved to Lihue, Kauai, HI until moving to Seatac, WA in 2013. Luanne returned to Springfield in 2016.

She married her best friend Clyde “Bill” Wharton Jr., August 18, 2004 after many decades with him.

Luanne loved her family, close friends, sunshine, hot days, and long car rides, even when she didn’t know where she was going. She also had an extreme love for music.

She is predeceased by her husband, Bill, Her parents, two sisters; Laurene Hooper and Polly Fox, a brother Robert Morse, and her grandson Garrett Waterman. She is also predeceased by her loving best friend Lydia Wharton and her son Earl Glidden.

Luanne is survived by her daughter Monique Plankey of Springfield, Vt. Four step daughters; Mirinda Waterman and Justine Wharton-Black both of Springfield, Karalyn Wharton of Spokane, WA and Kimberly Jeffries of Great Barrington, MA. Four grandchildren; Gavin Glidden, Lacie Glidden, Collin Glidden and Kiera Jaie Plankey. Three step-grandsons; Wayne Johnson Jr., Lucas Johnson and Damian Sanborn. Her sister Lorrelie “Lolly” Vittum and husband Richard of Springfield and a brother-in-law Jethro Hooper of MD, along with several cousins.

A graveside service will be held in the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield, VT at a later date. Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, VT assisted with arrangements.
