Mary K. Laber, 97
Mary K. Laber, 97, passed away Friday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2016, at the Elm Wood Center in Claremont. She was born June 10, 1918, in Springfield, the daughter of Michael and Ustena (Koudrate) Kazak. She attended Springfield schools. On Aug. 8, 1936, she married Ferris R. Laber in Springfield. He predeceased her on July 1, 2010. Mary was a mother and homemaker, who also worked at Jones and Lamson Machine Tool Company for several years, the Idlenot Farm and Dairy and was a night manager at the Idlenot Restaurant.
She was a member of the North Springfield Baptist Church and a member of the Twenty Niners. She was an outstanding cook, and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one son, Robert M. Laber of Charlestown; two daughters, Debbie Lorinovich of York, Maine, and Susan Rock of Bridgeton, Maine; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ferris; one son, Richard F. Laber; two brothers, Walter Kazak and Connie Kazak; and three sisters, Lena Blanc, Nellie Riel and Annie Peterson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at the North Springfield Baptist Church, Reverend George Keeler, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the North Springfield Baptist Church, P.O. Box 23, North Springfield, VT 05150. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
