Dow Tillson

Dow Leonard Tillson 79, died June 29, 2016, at Mount Ascutney Health Care Center in Windsor.

He was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Springfield, the son of Walter and Myra (Freeman) Tillson. He attended Springfield Schools and graduated from Springfield High School. Dow worked at Bryant Grinder Co. in Springfield for 40 years. On June 21, 1987, he married Susan Carter in Chester.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield, the St. John's Lodge F&AM in Springfield, a member of the Springfield Odd Fellows and the Sullivan Odd Fellows of Claremont. He was grand master of the State of Vermont Odd Fellows.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Tillson of Perkinsville, three daughters from a previous marriage: Rita Tillson of Houston, Texas, Donna Tillson Bass of Ashland, Massachusetts, and Linda Jeffries of Springfield; grandson Adam Tillson; one sister, Grace Baldwin of Manchester, Maryland; three stepchildren Jason Hunt of Warsaw, Missouri , Jacque Legare of Largo, Florida, and Jody Prouty of Perkinsville; three stepgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield. The Rev. Michael Pelletier, interim pastor, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049. Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
