Fern Cook



Fern (Gragen) Cook, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at her home in North Springfield. She was born Sept. 21, 1929 in Rutland, Vermont, daughter of Elizabeth (Prindle) Gragen and Raymond Cragen. She was married to Wendell Cook on December 20, 1948. Fern was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society. She enjoyed all types of arts and crafts. For many years, she worked as a teacher’s aide in the Springfield School System.

Fern is survived by her husband of 70 years; five sons, Thomas Cook (Debbie) of Cohasset, MA; Dana Cook of Mt. Holly, VT; David Cook (Darla) of Reading, VT; Wendell Cook, II of North Springfield, VT; and Andrew Cook of Langdon, NH; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jane (Cook) Kelso of Troy, NY.

Friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 12 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springfield, VT. Graveside committal services will follow at 3:00 PM in Pleasant View Cemetery, Randolph, VT.
