Marie T. Lambert



Marie Teresa Lambert, the beloved daughter and only child of Wilfred Alfred Lambert and Teresa (Beauvais) Lambert of Lyndon VT, was born on August 14, 1935 in Springfield, VT. She completed her earthly journey on Saturday, July 14, 2018 in the company of her dearest friend, Celine Larouche.

Marie attended elementary school in Lyndon and graduated from Springfield Vermont High School with the Class of 1953. She enrolled in the School of Education at Lyndon State College and graduated in 1957 with a BS in Elementary Education. Marie then attended Wayne State University in Detroit, MI to specialize in the education of children with special needs.

Marie began her teaching career in Keene NH, retiring in 1987 after 30 years as a Special Education Teacher. She continued to teach part time in NH and at St. Francis Xavier Elementary School in Winooski, VT. She was also a fulltime caregiver for her terminally ill friend and colleague, Patricia Going in VT. As a young woman, Marie was a staff member at Camp Marycrest in Grand Isle VT. During several summers, she taught the flute and recorder, along with arts and crafts. Marie was an accomplished flutist, an aspiring guitarist, and an avid photographer, whose camera was her constant companion.

Marie was a devout and active Catholic. She participated in choirs, liturgy, and various church organizations and activities. She readily helped and supported those in need. In her later years, Marie resided in Essex Junction, VT until she suffered a life altering accident from which she never fully recovered. She later lived at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, VT and spent her last years at St. Albans Health and Rehab Center.

Marie will long be remembered for her friendly, genuine attitude and her faithful service to Church and her profession. The legacy she leaves as sweet, lovable, talented Marie will long be cherished by all who knew her. She was a living example to everyone and showed remarkable courage throughout the sudden loss of her independence and¬ life as she knew it. She lived her sweet loving spirit every day until the end. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 18 at 11am in St. Simon Catholic Church in Abercorn , Quebec, Canada. Marie will be buried at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Springfield, VT. Arrangements are by Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home in Burlington, VT.

Marie is survived by her lifetime friend and faithful companion, Celine Larouche and her Quebec Family in Sutton. She is also survived by her cousins: Gail Niemyski and Ron Beauvais of North Carolina and two special friends: Sister Cathleen Going, OP and Shirley Verltullo. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie's memory may be made to a .

We wish to express our most sincere gratitude for the care, respect, attention, and love Marie received while living in the West Wing of the St. Albans Health and Rehab Center.
