Doug Riley

Doug Riley, of Springfield, was born on Dec. 8, 1955 in Keene, New Hampshire, and died on June 25, 2018 after a short and valiant battle with cancer at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Doug was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was known for his conversational prowess and for saying that he was going to make a long story short, but he never did. He was a gifted carpenter and an artist with anything to do with wood. He realized his dream of building a home in Maine where he hoped to live his life with his wife Mary Anne.

Doug was pre-deceased by his parents, Shirley (Primrose) and Robert Riley. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children Elisha Ann Riley, Matthew James Riley, Sarah Elizabeth Zierfus, and James Daniel Hanson. He will be much missed by his grandchildren Alexis, Noah, Hannah, Michael and Hunter. He is also survived by his brothers Randy and Steve Riley, his sister Pamela Riley and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a private military burial on July 7 in Camden, Maine. Per Doug’s wishes there will be an Irish wake at a family member’s home on July 13. His kindness, smile, and laughter made a difference in so many lives and he is now an angel watching over us.
