Emily M. Janowski

Emily M. Janowski, 94, passed away at her home on Friday, April 20, 2018, with her loving family by her side.

She was born June 18, 1923, in West Rutland, Vermont, the daughter of Frank and Michelina (Sobol) Wilk. On Sept. 28, 1946, she married Antoni J. Janowski at St. Stanislaus Church in West Rutland. Together, they owned Tony's Market in Cavendish, Vermont, for 35 years before retiring in 1981 to Springfield, Vermont. Emily was devoted to her family and especially loved phone calls and visits from her grandchildren. She was always interested in knowing what was happening in their lives. Emily's faith was extremely important to her. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and since her mother's death 63 years ago, she said the rosary daily. She was an avid Boston Celtics fan and days before her passing, she was still asking, "What's the score?"

She is survived by her daughter, Pat Coughlin and husband Tim, of Burlington, Vermont; her son, Bob Janowski and wife Sandy, of Epping, NH; her five treasured grandchildren Tim, Eric and Amanda Coughlin, Kristin Baetz and Michaela Janowski, plus three great-grandchildren; her brother, John Wilk, of Danbury, CT; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Karen, in 1982; brothers Ted and Ray; and her sister, Mary.

Emily was blessed to have neighbors Mary Ellen and John Ketz caring support during her later years.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield, Vermont. Burial will follow in the Cavendish Village Cemetery in Cavendish, Vermont.

Friends and Family may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel on Friday morning prior to the Mass, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
