Patricia M. Shute, 88, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 21, 2018, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 10, 1929 in Springfield, Vt., the daughter of Orin and Annie (Jeffrey) Short. She received her schooling in Springfield. She married Paul Sylvester in Springfield in 1951, and they were later divorced. Patricia was employed at the former International Shoe Company in Claremont and more recently as a senior companion for the VNA at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Claremont.
She enjoyed dancing, singing, music, crafts, painting, puzzles, watching television and especially spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, Robert, Edmund and Louis Short, one sister, Hazel Blanchard and one great granddaughter, Ashley Murray.
Survivors include one son, Danny Sylvester, Sr., and his wife, Idella, of Windsor; and one daughter, Belinda Sylvester and her life partner, David Shaffer of Proctorsville, Vt.; five grandchildren: Tracy, Stephen, Billie Jo, Denielle and Danny Jr.; nine great-grandchildren: Samantha, Brandy, Cheyenne, Kirsten, Kaidance, Bruce, Jaida, Anneliese, and Schaffer; three great-great-grandchildren: Zoe, Connor and Aubree; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service with a potluck dinner will be held Friday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. at Martin Memorial Hall in Ascutney. Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Patricia’s name.
