James L. Brusseau



James L. Brusseau, 78, of Springfield, died Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Bellows Falls, the son of Wesley J. and Elizabeth,(O'Connell) Brusseau. He graduated from Springfield High School. Mr. Brusseau served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He married Janice A. Derosier June 25, 1960, in Ludlow. She died March 16, 2011.

He was employed as a machinist with Jones & Lamson, Fellows Gear Shaper, Bryant Grinder, and retired from Vermont Machine Tool in 2000. He also worked for Johnson & Dix in Springfield.

Mr. Brussean enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and was a model train enthusiast.

Survivors include three children, Randall Brusseau, of Wethersfield, Connecticut, Cathy Nichols, of Andover, and Lorraine Allen, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two grandsons; his companion of five years, Barbara Shattuck; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his stepmother, Lois, and a sister, Lois-Ann Streeter.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, officiated by the Rev. Gerry Piper. Burial will be at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery in North Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Dartmouth-Hitchcock/Geisel Office of Development, 1 Medical Center Drive, HB 7070, Lebanon, NH 03756-0001. Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

To Barbara,Randall, Cathy, and Lorraine...so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a good man and a good neighbor. He will be greatly missed.
