Ruth T. Janowski



Ruth T. Janowski, 93, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Wind Gap, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thomas W. and Elizabeth (Williams) Thomas. She attended schools in Poultney, Vermont, and graduated from Poultney High School class of 1941.

On Aug. 3, 1957, she married Zigmunt R. Janowski in Proctorsville, Vermont. He predeceased her on Aug. 2, 2002. She had made her home in Springfield, Vermont, since 1957, and was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, her flower gardens, playing bingo, bird watching and spending time at Adult Day Care. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was a very kind and gentle women who quietly and consistently lived her beliefs, always leading by example.

She is survived by one son, Gregory M. Janowski, and his wife, Valerie, of Springfield; one daughter, Gail J. Carlson, and her husband, Paul, of Sheridan, Wyoming; four grandchildren Zachary Janowski, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Molly, Ryan and Kristen Carlson, all of Sheridan, Wyoming; two brothers John Thomas of Maryland and Robert Thomas of Missouri; also by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her siblings Thomas, Elizabeth, Margaret and Lester.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Springfield, Vermont. Reverend Gerry Piper, pastor, will officiate. Friends may call at the United Methodist Church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Cavendish Village Cemetery in Cavendish, Vermont, at a later date. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Springfield Adult Day Care Services, 266 River St., Springfield, VT 05156; or to the VNA & Hospice of Vt. & N.H., P.O. Box 976, White River Junction, VT 05001.
