Bradlee V. Starrett



Bradlee V. Starrett, 78, of SPringfield, died Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 5, 1938, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the son of Harold B. and Rose (Elliott) Starrett. He graduated from high school in Massachusetts.

Mr. Starrett worked in construction and retired as a captain from the U.S. Coast Guard after 21 years of service. He served on the Coast Guard Cutter Tamaroa during the Perfect Storm rescues.

He married Elaine Day Batchelder Oct. 31, 2009, in Springfield.

He was an avid deep sea fisherman, enjoyed hunting and sports, and was a national and international archery champion, as well as a champion bowler.

Survivors include his wife of Springfield; three sons, Kent and Keith Starrett, both of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, and Kirk Starrett, of Qukaiuii, Hawaii; four daughters, Kelly Babis and Kim Chartier, both of Phillipston, Massachusetts, Kristal Cioffi, of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, and Kathy Dargin, of Nashua, New Hampshire; a sister, Linda Whitaker, of Hampden, Massachusetts; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Starrett was predeceased by a brother, Terry Starrett.

The celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Bow Baptist Church in Weathersfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Humane Society, 401 Skitchewaug Trail, Springfield, VT 05156. Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
