David B. Houghton



David B. Houghton, 71, of Charlestown, N.H., passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, 2016, at Springfield Hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1945, in Windsor. He grew up on the family farm in Brownsville, and attended Windsor schools, graduating from Windsor High School Class of 1964. He married Nancy Smith on June 13, 1973, in Springfield, Vermont. Dave was employed as a machinist at the Fellows Gear Shaper, Sonnax, Design Standards, and Lovejoy Tool Company. He loved working outdoors, enjoyed farming, working with oxen and draft horses, enjoyed attending Fairs and watching the oxen and horse pulling events. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor (Merrill) Houghton; wife Nancy (Smith) Houghton; two sons, Toby Houghton and his wife, Sara, and Todd Houghton; two daughters, Lori Altfather and her husband, Ken, and Tanya Frady and her husband, Earl; sister Judy Spaulding and her husband, Carl; half-sisters Debra Snide, Janis Stevens and Patty Ebelt; and half brother Michael Lockwood; also by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
