Blanche Handly, 96, of Westmoreland, N.H., formerly of Highland Circle in Springfield, Vermont, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, New Hampshire, following a period of failing health.
She was born May 9, 1920, in Charlestown, the daughter of George and Elsie (Phelps) Blodgett. Blanche and her husband, Robert, had moved to California, where she had been employed as a cafeteria worker and later worked in a shoe store. Following their retirement, they moved back to Charlestown.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Robert Handly. Members of her family include four daughters, Portia Fulkerson, Deborah Henslee, Wendy Pester, Kathy Hunter; two sons, Kevin Handly and Kirk Handly; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside committal services will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family at Forest Hill Cemetery in Charlestown.
