Besides his children, he leaves behind four grandchildren, Anastasia Nadau, Felicia Bowen, Ryan Palmer and Ashley Wyman; David adored them. He also leaves behind one great-grandson, Dustin Johnson, whom he loved to pieces. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mary, in 1999 and his son, Stacey, in 1977; also his brothers, Phil, Robert and Richard; and his sisters, Lucy and Elizabeth.
David worked for the Rutland Railroad and Green Mountain Railroad until his retirement in 1992. David received an honorary diploma from Green Mountain High School. He loved to hunt and spent many seasons with his brothers. He enjoyed watching the Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and the Price is Right. Let’s not forget the Red Sox, he was a lifelong fan.
David was a Korean War veteran. He belonged to the VFW Post 771 in Springfield, VT. He was a life member of American Legion Post 67 in Chester. He was the past commander from 1987 to 1988 and belonged to the Color Guard. David and his cohorts ran the Legion Lunch Wagon for many years. Any function the Legion needed help with, he would be there. Most people though will remember as the bingo chairman.
He will be missed by many and his absence will be felt. We love you, Dad!
