Janice V. Malinowski, 78, of Springfield, died after a long illness Aug. 15, 2016.
She was born March 21, 1938, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Sydney Charles and Florence (Hunt) Peaslee.
She attended school in Petersham, Massachusetts, and was valedictorian of her high school class in 1956.
Mrs. Malinowski had a long career in banking at First National Bank and Bryant Credit Union in Springfield.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and volunteered for the Springfield Humane Society and Springfield Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Malinowski; her son, Jon of New Windsor, New York; and her sister, Gail of Raleigh, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Humane Society at spfldhumane.org/donations.html.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at Davis Memorial Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial to follow. Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel.

In Janice Malinowski's original obituary published here and in the newspapers, her father’s name was mistakenly listed as Clyde. Clyde was her stepfather. Her father's first name name was Sidney.
