Charles A. “Charlie” Locke III, 75, of Springfield, died Aug. 14, 2016, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born Jan. 15, 1941, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the son of Charles Albert Jr. and Cecilia (Dumont) Locke.
He grew up in Lempster, New Hampshire, and graduated from Newport (New Hampshire) High School.
After moving to Springfield, Mr. Locke worked for Jones & Lamson for a number of years before he started two businesses of his own: Charlie’s Repair Service and Charlie’s Rubbish Removal.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, bowling, racing and loved to travel.
Mr. Locke is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia (Johnson) Locke; his four children Debbie Shattuck, Donald Pratt, Sandy Foskett and Lori Knox; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; an uncle and aunt; and a nephew Rick Hamel. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Patricia Nash.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at KJ’s Banquet Hall in North Springfield. Memorial donations may be made to the Adult Day Program, c/o Larry Kraft at Springfield Hospital. Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel.
