Patricia F. Hayden

Patricia F. Hayden, 95, died Sunday April 17, 2016, at her home in Springfield. She was born March 21, 1921, in Springfield, the daughter of Harold C. and Gladys ( Fullam ) Fellows. She graduated from the Mount Herman School in Northfield, and went on to attend the University of Vermont.

On Oct. 2, 1942, she married Albert A. Thorpe. He predeceased her in 1945. She later married Robert B. Hayden on December 29, 1956, He predeceased her on May 23, 1994.

Mrs. Hayden worked for many years with the Springfield Visiting Nurse Association, working in the clothing room and serving of the board of trustees. She worked as a Red Cross nurse’s aide with Springfield Hospital for several years. She worked at the Springfield Library for 16 years, and was a library volunteer for many more years. She volunteered for the Santa Claus Club for 40-plus years.

She is survived by her son, Gerald A. Thorpe of Wilmington, Del., two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

At her request there were no services, and a private burial was held in the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield, Vt. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Springfield Town Library 43 Main St., Springfield, VT 05156; or to the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Southern Vermont and N.H., P.O. Box 976 White River Junction, VT 05001. Arrangements were by Davis Memorial Chapel.
