Everett E. Reed, 99


Everett Ernest Reed of Bellows Falls and Townshend, Vermont, died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the age of 99. Born in 1916 in Walpole, he was the son of Ernest and Emma Reed. He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Arlene Davenport Reed. Everett graduated from Walpole High School in 1933 and then worked at the Bellows Falls Creamery. He was employed by Jones and Lamson Machine Company in Springfield from 1940 to 1981. After retiring, he enjoyed his second home at Country Village Park in Orange City, Florida. He loved to go square dancing, camping throughout New England and Canada, and caring for his bird feeders and beautiful gardens.

In addition to his wife, Arlene, he is survived by two sons, Alan E. Reed (Jane) of Wallingford, Connecticut and Bruce A. Reed (Joanne) of Hingham, Massachusetts; a sister, Margaret Reed Ross of Walpole and Townshend, Vermont; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, David C. Reed of Wallingford, Connecticut.

Calling hours are held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at St. Charles Church on Saturday, April 16, followed by interment at Walpole Cemetery in Walpole. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fenton & Hennessey in Bellows Falls.
