Alta M. Crary, 92

Alta Marguerite (Hodgkins) Crary, 92, formerly of Springfield, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at Kindred Care Greenbriar nursing home in Nashua, N.H. She was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Keene, N.H., the daughter of Earl and Francese (Clayton) Hodgkins. She graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1941. She married Earl Crary on Nov. 15, 1943, and they lived in the home they had built on Chester Road in Springfield for 57 years. She loved playing with her grandchildren, Christmas, camping, knitting and crocheting, playing cards and baking pies.

Mrs. Crary is survived by two daughters, Janette of Gilbert, Ariz., and Susan of Nashua, N.H.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister Marjorie Davis, her brother Francis "Buster" Hodgkins and her husband Earl Crary in 2003.

The family plans a graveside service at Oakland Cemetery in Springfield at a later date. Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel.f
