Katharine S. Young, 85


Katharine S. Young of Charlestown, 85, passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Valley Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Everett, Massachusetts, the daughter of Elderic Barry and Evangeline Barry-Ranahan. Katharine had owned and operated Frenchie’s Grocery in Charlestown. She was a member of the Miller Art Center, the Saxtons River Art Guild, the American Legion, the Elks, the Moose, the Charlestown Senior Center and the Springfield Senior Center. Katharine loved to dance, sing karaoke, to play shuffleboard and cribbage. Her passion was her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Moore and her husband, Dennis, of Newton, New Hampshire; her sons, Joseph J. Innes and his wife, Ruth, of Bethany Bay, Delaware and Kevin M. Innes and his husband, Vincent Andrews, of Randolph, Massachusetts; a daughter-in-law, Robin Innes of Litchfield, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Amanda Dominguez and her husband, Nico, Joseph Innes and his wife, Diana, Scott Innes and his wife, Brittany, and Katy Innes; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Biancha; one brother, Eldric Barry of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph John Innes II; a son, Scott F. Innes; and a sister, Patricia Hunt.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the St. Catherine of Siena Church in Charlestown, with Father Steven Lepine officiating. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Charlestown Senior Center, 223 Old Springfield Road, Charlestown, NH 03603.
