F. Miriam Donegan, 99, died Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow.
She was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Saint Stephen New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Charles P. and Alice L. (Cahill) Hayman.
She graduated in 1936 from Manning High School in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and in 1941 from Salem State College. After graduation, she began her teaching career at Shatswell and Winthrop schools in Ipswich.
On March 27, 1943, she married Lt. John F. Donegan.
Mrs. Donegan worked as a substitute teacher in Springfield schools for 24 years, retiring in 1982.
She served as a member of Springfield Planning Committee and belonged to the Home Demonstration Club.
She enjoyed feeding and watching birds, gardening and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include three children J. Richard Donegan, of Litchfield, New Hampshire, David Donegan, of Groton, New Hampshire, Jane Canale; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Donegan was predeceased by her husband May 28, 2011.
The memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 4, at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield where a calling hour begins at 11 a.m. prior to the service officiated by the Rev. Gerry Piper.
Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield.

Blessed to know this woman my entire life. Always a lady and pleasant as the day is long... I will miss her.
