Michael S. Cass



Michael Sargent Cass, 66, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday April 14th, 2018 surrounded by his family after a short hard battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Springfield, VT on December 11,1951, son of Gloria (Jones) and the late Howard Cass.

Michael graduated from Chester High School in 1969. After graduating high school, he worked for Richard Baker in Andover until he left for Texas for basic training in 1970. When Michael graduated from basic training he went on to California where he went to learn Chinese-Mandarin. From 1971-1972, Michael spent time in Thailand as a Chinese interpreter. Upon returning stateside in 1972, he returned to work for Richard Baker in Andover. Michael worked at Durand Toyota Ford for the last 15 years. Prior to Durand, Michael was an electrician, and worked at the Bowling Alley for many years.

Michael was an avid golfer since the age of 10, and a member at Bellows Falls Country Club for 13 years. Michael enjoyed playing golf with his family and teaching his grandchildren the game he loved. He enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, bowling and coaching his kids little league and softball. In 1979, Michael met his love Karleen and were married on May 31, 1980 at St. Mary’s Church in Springfield . Michael and Karleen had 2 children, Bethany and Justin.

Michael was pre-deceased by his father, Howard, his father-in-law, Glendon Sheehan, his mother-in-law, Shirley Sheehan, his nephew, John Sheehan and his brother-in-law, Kevin Sheehan.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Karleen (Sheehan) Cass; a daughter, Bethany Keefe, her husband Ryan and their children Lilly and Evan; a son, Justin Cass, his wife Cynthia and their children Elijah and Gage; his mother Gloria (Jones) Cass and his sister, Donna Knight; two sister-in-laws,Kathi Stern and her husband Neil and Karen Sheehan; a brother-in-law, Keith Sheehan and his wife Vicki, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel on Saturday April 21, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. A Reception will follow, location to be announced.
