Barbara Ellen Aldrich Kerbaugh, 82, of Springfield, Vt., and formerly of Keene, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Her parents, Russell and Myra (née Emerson) Aldrich, proudly welcomed their daughter into the world on Jan. 5, 1935, in Keene. She grew up in Keene and was a 1953 graduate of Keene High School.
She became a bookkeeper for the former Royal Furriers of Keene and then the former Bailey Ford in Keene. She also worked as manager of food services at Keene High School for several years. Barbara’s love for food service and cooking led her to establish her own catering business, Kerbaugh Catering.
Barbara took great pride in raising her family. While her children were growing up, she enjoyed watching them participate in their various sporting events. Her joy in life was the special memories she was able to create with her family and all of the special times they shared together.
Barbara was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting and genealogy. Putting the needs of others before her own will be the virtue that many will remember about her.
Barbara and her husband, Robert, moved to Clearwater, Fla., where they resided for the past 17 years until moving to Springfield, Vt., in September as a result of Hurricane Irma.
She will be greatly missed by many in the Keene and Clearwater communities, especially her husband of nearly 64 years, Robert E. “Bob” Kerbaugh of Springfield, Vt.; her children, Kenneth R. Kerbaugh of Springfield, Vt., Kim K. Carey of Keene, Kellie R. Jones and her husband, Allen, of Grafton, Vt., Kristen A. Bellows of Springfield, Vt.; her grandchildren, Jeremy Carey, Jessica Carey, Tyler Carey, Nicole Sturk and her husband, Nathan, Danielle Jones, Shannon Sturk and her husband, Joshua, Kylie Bellows, and Alexis Bellows; her great-grandchildren, Ryley Smith, Adelaide Sturk, Charly Sturk, and Evan Sturk; a sister-in-law, Mary Taylor, of Florida; a brother-in-law, Howard Kerbaugh, and his wife, Peggy, of Keene; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by a brother, Gerauld Aldrich.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 130 Summit Road, Keene. Burial will follow at the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene. There are no public calling hours.
Donations may be made in Mrs. Kerbaugh’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
