John E. Thomas, 74, of Baltimore, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at Mount Ascutney Health Care Center in Windsor.
He was born May 11, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Elbridge and Anna (Shepard) Thomas.
He graduated in 1962 from Springfield High School.
Mr. Thomas spent his life working on the Thomas Family Dairy Farm in Baltimore where he also held various town offices over the years.
He enjoyed helping people, hunting, attending fairs and watching the draft horses and horse pulls.
Survivors include his daughter, Joan Whaley, of Baltimore, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, Robert Thomas, and brother, Shepard Thomas.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, where a calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service officiated by the Rev. Jean O'Bresky.
A gathering will follow at the Thomas Family Farm in Baltimore.
