Larry F. Hosford Sr., 76, of East Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, in Newport, Vt.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1940, in Newport, Vt. He was the son of Francis and Mabel (Johnson) Hosford.
He graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Vt., and went on to attend Bentley School of Accounting in Boston, Mass., where he earned his Associates Degree in Accounting.
On Oct. 28, 1961 he married Eva Cole who predeceased him on Aug. 28, 2016.
Larry loved playing poker, hunting, fishing, telling jokes and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Charleston Historical Society, the Charleston Board of Listers, and a former member of the Charleston Fire Department.
He is survived by his son Larry Hosford Jr. of Holyoke, Mass., and his partner Eric Jimenez; his son David Hosford and his partner Sybil Phaneuf of East Charleston; his son Gary Hosford and his wife Sheryl of Newport, Vt.; his daughter Vicki Hosford of Derby Line; and his daughter Darci Potwin and her husband Chris of Sharon, Vt. Larry is also survived by his grandchildren: Sarah, David, Matthew, Kristin, Megan, Calvin, Cole, Tyler, Parker, Phillip, and Ashley, and a great-grandson Mason all of whom he loved dearly; and also by his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Charlotte and Clair Dane of Morgan, Shirley Bowen of Derby, Elaine Cole and her husband Rod Kerr of Greensboro, Alan and Patricia Cole of Westmore, by his sister-in-law Linda Cole of Newport, his brother Wayne Hosford and his wife Marlene of Brownington, Vt, and by his sister Sally Kelley, and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Eva (Cole) Hosford, and by two brother-in-laws, Robert and Everett Cole.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, located at 37 Lake Road in Newport, Vt., at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Dizazzo officiating the service. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. up until the hour of the service.
