Myron James Hobbs, 80


Myron James Hobbs, 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at Peaceful Harvest in Charlestown. He was born April 7, 1935, in Springfield, the son of Myron John and Ethel (Obrien) Hobbs. He attended Springfield schools and graduated from Springfield High School Class of 1953. He served in the United States Army during peacetime. On Nov. 7, 1959, he married Jennie Manning at the Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield. She predeceased him Nov. 23, 2010.

Myron was employed at the A & P Grocery Store in Springfield, Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire, Hampshire Manufacturing for 10 years in production and receiving, and as an expeditor with Bryant Grinder Company in Springfield for 13 years.

He was a devoted member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield, serving as deacon, trustee, financial secretary and greeter. He was also a member and past president of the Precision Valley Squares.

He is survived by one brother, Duane Hobbs of Woodsville, New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in the spring, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Calvary Baptist Church, 156 Main St. Springfield, VT 05156.
