Bernadette T. LaPerle, 67


Bernadette T. (Marsden) LaPerle, of Pownal, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at the age of 67. She was born Jan. 5, 1949, in Springfield, VT, the daughter of Robert and Evelyn (McKenna) Lane, and later lived in the Bennington area for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her husband, John LaPerle of Pownal. Three daughters Becky Farrington of Bennington, Andrea Hennelly of Boston and Tina Mathers of Bennington; a stepson, Steven Marsden of Bennington; six grandchildren; and a brother, Bertram Lane of Woodford. Mrs. LaPerle was predeceased by her son, Barry James Marsden.

She was devoted to her children and worked for many years as a stay-at-home mother. She later worked as a bank teller for 25 years at Vermont National and Chittenden Banks in Bennington. She was also a member of the Pownal Legion Auxiliary for 15 years. She enjoyed camping in the summer months and living in North Port, Fla., during the winter months with her husband.

Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on with a memorial service immediately following at 5 p.m. Contributions in memory of Bernadette T. LaPerle may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the Pownal Rescue Squad through the office of Mahar and Son Funeral Home.
